H = half step = 1 semitone (1 fret)

V A R I A N T   N A M E S
Though Ionian is the first mode of the Major scale, the terms can be used somewhat interchangeably. With a bright, glad sound, this series of tones is the "ruler" by which all others will be identified and defined.
